Here at The Balmoral we are committed to providing a good quality service whilst minimising the environmental impact of our activities.
A symbol of this commitment is our membership of the Green Tourism Business Scheme. The scheme provides accreditation and encouragement for tourism businesses to reduce the environmental impact of their activities.
By encouraging sustainable practices the scheme ensures the continued enjoyment of the environment around us for future generations.
Some of the main steps we have taken to reduce our impact are:
- Recycling everything we can and encouraging our guests to recycle.
- Promoting car free and local activities.
- Providing Fairtrade products including tea, coffee, sugar and biscuits.
- Use of environmentally friendly cleaning products.
- Raising money for local charity – Wish upon a Star.
- Working with other tourism businesses in the area committed to sustainability.
- Commitment to energy saving by:
- Introducing energy saving light bulbs.
- Installing a more efficient heating system.
- Replacing windows with double glazing.
- Use of mini kettles in bedrooms.
